In the US there is a conference held every other year, so 2010 should be the lucky year. The problem is I can't seem to find the 'when and where' of it. The last one held was Knoxville, KY in 2008. There was the London conference in '09, they seem to hold theirs in alternate years also, so there is an opportunity to attend once a year if you can travel.

The Knoxville conference was held in October but so far they have not scheduled the 2010 affair. I will keep looking and post an answer when I find it.

There is a convention every two years in the US for Ripperologists (people who study Jack the Ripper). There is a similar conference held in the UK in alternate years. The conferences last for three days and feature lectures, new research and a chance for people to socialize and share theories and ideas, according to the website at ripperology.com/conference. The event is not limited to professionals --anyone can register. This year's conference in 2008 is in Knoxville, Tn on October 10-12th. A link to the event is below.

Was Jack the Ripper alive in the 1st world war?

No one can say the ripper lived until ww1. After the murder of Mary Kelly, Jack the Ripper mysteriously stopped his attacks. After that there were few murders that could be his. Jack made his crimes in 1888. The ww1 began in July 1914. That gives us 24 years. When the ripper was active, murders likes his were being investigated in the US, in Mexico, South America and other places and I don't believe in a worldwide ripper mania. 1888 was a time were medical knowledge were not improved specially in the area of psychiatry. Sociopaths, psychopaths and paranoid schizophrenics were not quite understood. For sociopaths there is no drug or treatment but for paranoid schizophrenics there are treatments and drugs. The one thing we can say for sure, is that the ripper was alive in 1888 and maybe a few years after that. Nobody can say for sure the ripper lived until ww1.

How does blind man's buff mean in telling us that Jack the Ripper never got caught?

"Blind-man's Buff" is a punch cartoon that came out on September 22 1888. It critizes the police for it's incompetence and the failure to capture the ripper. The cartoon also mocks the police's methods of detection. It doesn't tell us but shows a picture that the ripper is not going to be caught by the police of that day.

How are Jack the Ripper and Dracula connected to each other?

Two of the most infamous creatures of the night - Jack the Ripper and Bram Stoker's Count Dracula - stalked the foggy, gas-lit streets of Victorian England, shed their victims' blood, took their lives and vanished into the night. More than a century later, their stories continue to fascinate and repel us.

When did the Jack the Ripper murders stop?

The last of the canonical five murders was Mary Kelly on November 9th, 1888. But some people believe that later murders in Whitechaple were also the work of Jack the Ripper. And others believe that Jack the Ripper left the country and committed murders in the US. We don't know for sure. Soon after Kelly's death, the body of Montagu Druitt was found in the Thames, and a note went round Scotland Yard saying that there would be no more murders now. Assuming Kelly was the last Ripper victim, this would point to Druitt as the serial murderer. As for some other murders in the area in the following year or two, many authors have tried to link these to the Ripper, but most experts are not convinced.

Was jack the ripper related to Winston Churchill?

Not unless he was Winston's father, Lord Randolph Churchill, who is one of the large number of extreme 'outsiders' named as possible Ripper suspects. Conspiracy theorists like to remind us that Lord Randolph became mentally deranged before his death. But he was not showing signs of this as early as 1888.

What was Jack The Ripper's sexual orientation?

The Ripper's crimes do tell us something about the kind of person he was. Most likely he was a white heterosexual male. It is obvious from the condition of the victim's bodies that this killer had extreme rage and hatred for them. What is true with many of our modern serial killers, personality disorders are common enough. This was probably true JTR also.
