it is under your front cross member be carefull and make sure you clean it as oil drips right on it and makes a mess tight fit for big hands good luck

The oil filter on a 2003 Dodge Dakota is located on the bottom, right side of the engine. A special filter wrench is needed to properly grip and remove the filter.

On a 2003 LS with a 3.9, it is located just behind the engine oil filter when looking at the filter head on. In other words, the oil filter actually screws on to the oil cooler itself.
