I drive a 2007 Isuzu Ascender with the 4.2L I-6 and 4wd. It's actually an I, not a V, in this vehicle. Engines in that configuration often don't run as smoothly but produce more torque. With this vehicle being an authentic body-on-frame SUV, that's an ideal solution. We can leave the urban jungle to the fak... unibodies. Anyway, the first step is to get past the skid plate (if there is one). There is a panel in the middle of the skid plate. It has two bolts holding it on. Removing those will allow the panel to swing to the side. Behind the panel lies the drain plug and oil filter. The drain plug is pretty obvious. The oil filter is up a bit and will require an extension to remove. If it is the OEM filter, it will be blue in color. You will also need to tell the truck's computer that the oil has been changed. Turn the ignition to ON, slowly pump the gas pedal three times, and turn the ignition OFF.

Bought one for my 2004 Isuzu Ascender. Depends on what filter you buy, and who replaces it. The cost for the actual filter ranges from $7 to $48 dollars for the 'professional' fuel filter. The labor ran me $50.00 to install it. I am sure I could have had it done cheaper, but am new to the area and haven't yet found a good, honest, reputable, non-franchise (independent) mechanic, if such a creature exists.
