The oil filter is on the passenger side of the truck. Looking at the exhaust manifold count two ports left to right. Just under the second exhaust port you should see it tucked in an attached to the engine block.
unscrew it counterclockwise, if it is tough use an oil filter wrench
The oil filter on a 2003 Dodge Dakota is located on the bottom, right side of the engine. A special filter wrench is needed to properly grip and remove the filter.
More than likely the incorrect size filter is installed.
