To change the oil in a Volvo 240, first, gather the necessary tools and materials, including an oil filter, engine oil (typically 10W-30), an oil pan, and a wrench. Start by warming up the engine for a few minutes to thin the oil, then turn it off and let it cool slightly. Remove the oil drain plug located at the bottom of the oil pan to drain the old oil into the pan. After the oil has drained completely, replace the drain plug, change the oil filter, and refill the engine with the new oil through the oil filler cap. Finally, check the oil level with the dipstick and ensure it’s within the recommended range.

The oil pan from a Volvo 850 turbo is generally not the same as the one from a non-turbo Volvo 850. The turbo models often have specific design features to accommodate the turbocharger and may have different oil capacity or baffle designs. Therefore, it's important to use the correct oil pan specific to the model and engine type for optimal performance and compatibility.
To remove the oil pan from a Volvo 940, first ensure the vehicle is safely raised and supported. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter. Then, detach any components obstructing the oil pan, such as the exhaust or crossmember, and remove the bolts securing the oil pan in place. Carefully pry the pan loose, being mindful of the gasket, and lift it off the engine.
In the Volvo V70, the oil drain plug is located on the underside of the engine oil pan. To access it, you'll need to lift the vehicle safely using ramps or a jack and stands. The plug is usually positioned towards the rear of the oil pan and requires a wrench to remove. Be sure to have an oil catch pan ready to collect the draining oil.
