youtube - push mower oil change.... oil plug under mower deck
depending on what type of mower and who makes the motor it can vary. if it is a standard push mower you can either remove the dip stick/oil fill and dump the oil out there or look at the base of the motor for a plug or under the deck with the blade for a plug. if it is a riding mower there will be a plug at the base of the motor that can be removed to drain it
Turn lawnmower on its side and you will find the oil plug which can be removed using a 1/2" drive from your socket. Have a drain pan ready and place it under mower once the drain plug has been removed. replace the plug and fill mower with new oil.
where is the oil drain plug located on a john deere 316 riding mower?
It will hydraulic lock. This means that it will appear and feel as if it has siezed up but in fact it probably hasn't. To correct the problem you must drain the excess oil. Start by disconnecting the spark plug wire so the mower can't accidentally start up. Under the mower where the blade is you should find a plug going into the bottom of the motor. Remove that plug and drain the oil. Reinstall the plug and check your oil. fill only to the line on the dipstick. Reinstall the spark plug wire and your mower should start normally.
there should be a drain plug under the mower where the blades are. to fill it is on the top where you check the oil. there is a drain plug under the mower where the blade is. to fill it is where you chech your oil. Many mowers do not have a drain plug, simply remove the dipstick and tip the mower on its side and dump it out the filler tube into a proper container.
Look for a 3/8 drain plug underneath the deck (where the blade is) Loosen. Drain. If no plug is there, remove the oil dip stick and turn the mower on the side until all the oil is out.
When you put your mower up for the winter you should shoot a few squirts of oil into the combustion chamber and park the piston at the top. When spring comes, start it up to blow out the oil then shut it down and change the plug. You had to unscrew the plug to squirt the oil in and, in doing that, you ruined the crushable gasket that seals the plug and you probably oil-fouled the plug when you started the engine to blow the oil out. Don't fool with it because a new plug is too cheap to justify the aggravation of re-using the old plug. If you are a commercial mower you should probably change the plug about every 4 oil changes...check the owner's manual.
Remove drain plug and allow oil to drain. Insert drain plug. Remove fill plug and fill with the appropriate type and amount of oil. Install fill plug.
Drain plug is next to the blade Place a ratchet head into the square plug and drain oil Replace plug and replace oil
pull the plug
If its got a oil plug its a 4 cycle, 5w-30 motor oil
