I had a 1987 Jetta and the oxygen sensor was connected to the down pipe. It is screwed in and there should be a wire leading from it. From the engine compartment you can look near the firewall and follow the exhaust pipes. It should be sticking out midway between the top and bottom bends.
Mounted somewhere on the exhaust system. It will look similar to a sprak plug. It Amy have more than one.
If you look at the front grill, below the bumper, the small bulb like sensor is snapped into the lower drivers side there.
look at where the headers come off the engine. follow this and there should be a rod like projection sticking out with wires running down from it. that is your O2 sensor.
it is black, located at throttle plate, on side of throttle body.is held on by screws.
I work in the glass auto industry and i remove and install rain sensors on many cars and trucks. The reason is most likely because the " gel pack" ( the little soft piece of clear plastic ) between the rain sensor and the windshield is dirty or damaged........my suggestion for you is to have a dealer or a local auto glass shop take a look at the sensor and/or the "gel pack"
