On some early model 4.3L engines the oil filter is located behind an access panel. If this is the case, open the oil filter access panel located at the front of the vehicle. OR Oil filter removal and installation may be accomplished through the wheel well on some vehicles. On later models, the oil filter is accessed by removing the air filter housing.
