Why does your 2000 Bravado shut off for no reason It usually happens when coming up a hill onto flat road but has also happen when going down a hill onto flat road Not enough gas is not the issue?

I had a similar problem on my 97 Bravada. The cause was the wiring harness from the key switch down to the power block under the dash. Other symptoms were windshield wiper problems (intermittent operation or would not turn off when turned off - that was fun!), windshield washer would not work. As the problem with the harness got worse, the car would periodically not start. Sometimes wiggling the key would work. The problem with the harness is well known in the Bravada repair world - another one of those typical Bravada problems like the 1st to 2nd gear hard shift, rear window wiper failure, windshield wiper motor ground solder issue, oil line leak, etc. You can find the detailed fix instructions elsewhere on the web so I won't go into them here. The harness costs about $80-$90. The fix is not particularly hard but takes a while (about 2-3 hours), requires some moderately 'special' tools (small torx sockets and such), and requires some contortions to get around and under the dash (do your yoga). I've heard that repair shops charge $250-$350 to do the job. I don't know if this problem is prevalent on the 2000 but it sure is on the 97. Hope it works for you - it's no fun when your truck dies on you doing 60 MPH in the middle of traffic on the highway!

How do you re-program a keyless remote for a 1998 Bravada?

1. Close all vehicle doors, windows up.2. Insert the key into the ignition and wait for dome light to turn off.3. Hold down the power unlock button on the driver's door panel - continue to hold down until instructed to release in step 94. erform steps 5 though 8 in fairly rapid succession.5. Turn the ignition switch to the on position (as far as you can go without starting the engine)6. Turn the ignition switch to the off position.7. Turn the ignition switch to the on position.8. Turn the ignition switch to the off position.9. Release the power unlock button on the door panel, The vehicle will cycle the door locks (lock and unlock the doors automatically) to indicate that the vehicle is in programming mode. IMPORTANT: ALL transmitters must be programmed at this time. When a new transmitter is programmed, it will deactivate the old transmitters.10. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter simultaneously until the door locks cycle (locks and unlocks). This step may take up to 30 seconds.11. Repeat the previous step for each additional transmitter (including any existing transmitters).12. Turn the ignition switch to the on position in order to exit the transmitter programming mode.13. Test transmitter(s) for function.

If your 1997 Olds Bravada 'hard shifts' from first to second after ANY highway use what could this be?

thats ur transmisson, my friends jeep does it too. try some of the stuff they carry at the auto store. if that doesnt work, its expensive to fix

My '97 Bravada had a new tranny put in after it did this... (Fortunately mine was still under warranty)

This is a known issue with GM vehicles that have the 4L60E transmission. The issue normally presents itself after the transmission has had time to warm up and has been driven approximately 50 - 60 MPH. At highway speeds the torque convertor locks up for increased efficiency and so that it generates less heat. The lockup is accomplished by a solenoid in the tranmission's valve body which applies the torque convertor clutch (TCC). The solenoid and valve body itself are made of different metals which cause them to expand and contract at different rates. This constant variance in rates causes the valve body to wear away. The wore valve body allows transmission fluid to slip past the solenoid, causing a weak TCC apply. This weak apply is detected by the tranmssion as a slip. When a slip is detected the computer increases the line pressure to the shift solenoids to make the shifts firmer to minimize damage. This increased line pressure is what causes the hard shift that you feel, it is most noticable from 1st to 2nd gear. If the transmission detects the slip on two consecutive trips it will illuminate the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light and store the code P1870.

If you ignore the problem, you will end up damaging your transmission and it will require a rebuild or replacement. However, if you catch it in time you can generally save your transmission. There are two ways to remedy the problem. 1) Replace the valve body. (GM has a new updated one) 2) Repair your current valve body, this can be done with special repair kit available through Sonnax.

Is there a fuel reset button or something on a 1997 Olds Bravada?

Did you check the owner's manual. I had a Ford Escort and the manual pointed me to a reset switch in the back of my car near the spare tire well. Good luck! No there isn't. The fuel pump receives its power from the fuel pump relay or the oil pressure switch (they are connected in parallel so that power can be provided from either source). The oil pressure switch provides power to the pump when the oil pressure reaches 4 PSI. The Fuel Pump relay supplies power the pump when it receives a signal from the ignition switch. They are no other switches or interupts in the circuit. The 1997 models are noturious for having faulty ignition switches, so if you're not getting power to the fuel pump, that would be the first place to check. Another indicater of the ignition switch would erractic gauge and dash light operation. It may also even cause stalling and transmission shift problems.

Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada?

The fuel pump relay is in the underhood fuse box.Fuse box is on drivers side fender well. The fuel pump relay on my 1997 Olds Bravada is located in the glove box top left side in the back behind a cover. There are 3 relays that are the same and the Fuel Pump relay is the left one of the 3. I replaced mine and that did not fix the problem though. I am going for the new ignition switch. I have power to the relay then I loose it. Good Luck.

Turn Signals and Hazard Lights

Where is the turn signal relay located in a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada?

Under the dash in the wiring on the left side of the steering column If you are upside down, it is on the left. There are two flashers. One controls the hazard lamps and the other controls the turn signals. They are both below and to the left of the radio. You need to remove the covers in the bottom center of the dash directly in front of the center floor console. The left flasher is for the four way and the right for turn signal. I just replaced mine ten minutes ago.

Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

How do you fix a faulty digital instrument panel on a 93 olds cutlass supreme?

Remove the Digital Insturment Cluster from the dash. Take it apart and check the solder connections on the 14 pin IC chip located on the printed circuit board. This is the most likely cause. Resolder the pins. If that dosent work, resolder every thing on the board. Other than leaking capacitors ive never found anything wrong in these units other than broken solder connections. Usually the unit will flicker on and off depending on ambient temperature and bumps in the road or hitting the dashboard. This is due to broken solder connections on the Integrated Circuit (IC) listed above.

How do you change a rear wiper motor on a 1998 Bravada?

There is a rubber plug at the wiper arm joint. Take a small screwdriver and remove the rubber plug. There is a hex nut (11mm)that will be exposed, remove the hex nuts. You can then remove the wiper arm from the motor. There is a small rubber hose that connects to a swivel joint on the rear door, be careful, but you can remove this hose, and then the wiper arms can be removed. This will allow you to remove a plastic hex nut, that is under the rear wiper arm. Remove the plastic nut from the wiper motor. You then need to open the rear glass from the rear hatch. Look inside where the glass latches to the rear hatch. There is a Phillips head screw that connects the rear inner plastic pannel to the rear hatch, remove this screw. Now, in the strap that you use to pull the rear hatch down, there is a torques head screw, that holds this strap to the rear hatch, you need to remove this screw. Start at one of the outer corners of the inner plastic pannel and pull the pannel away from the hatch. Really only the right corner of the pannel needs to be pulled away, but you may want to remove the whole pannel. You will see the upper wiper motor in the right hand corner of the hatch. ther is one connector that is easy to see and remove, you have to pull up on a plastic clip to remove this connector. The other connector does not need to be removed, what will come out with the motor. You can now see three screw that hold the motor to the hatch. Remove these three screw and remove the motor from the hatch. Just a word of caution, be sure that the motor is bad, before you go to all of this work. Check the fuse at the end of the dash, on the drivers side, it is a 15 amp fuse. Check and make sure that the rear wiper switch (on the dash) is also working. You may want to plug the new motor into the wire for the motor, and see that it functions correctly before you remove the old motor. Good luck Joe

If you have a 200A Meter Main Combo do you need a main 200A breaker in the panel?

When I went to a 100 amp service I could not find a 100 amp. breaker in stock. I used a 60 amp. breaker and have never blown it. The 200 amp you are using can handle up to 200 amps, but if you use a smaller breaker it will only handle up to that amperage. The 200 amp is usally the total amperage of all the breakers comming out of the box. You will probably never come anywhere near using 200 amps at one time.
