If it is Sims 3 for computer then go to the options kinda menu and then click Edit Town.
They each have different options to them and the PC games have expansion packs where you can add on different things to the Sims game whereas the Sims 3 Wii does not have any expansion packs.

Raise your quality settings in the options menu.
The Sims 3 for Wii is already in stores. I have it myself for the Wii. It is a very fun game!
No the sims 3 World Adventures is not on the Wii, unfortunetly.
I can only speak for the PC version, as I have never played the wii version, etc. All you have to do is insert the disk, and a little menu should appear, giving you options. Ignore all options but the first one. It should say something along the lines of; "Play disk". Click on this and it should bring up the actually Sims 3 menu. On the left is a big, round circle with a play sign in the middle. Click on that and the game should start automatically. Alternatively, you could click on the Sims 3 icon that should appear on your desktop once the Sims 3 has been installed. This should automatically take you to the Sims 3 menu, and from there you do the same. Click the big round play button and it should start for you!
no sims 3 for computer
