There is one down past the turbo unit on the exhaust pipe (front)
then after the catalytic converter (under a plate that cover it and exhaust pipe you must remove 4 screws to get at the sensor) is the rear
you will need the special socket as the rear is kinda hidden
The oxygen sensor is located on your lower exaust pipe just before the cat underneath the car
It depends on the shop and the parts that go with it. original parts usually cost more.
It is located in the intake pipe between the MAF sensor and the throttle.

I have 2 earlier 960's. The oxygen sensor - the lambda is situated on the catalytic converter, which is below the driver seat on a right hand drive car. It has a slight angle to it where it fits into the cat. To change it is quite straightforward. There are a couple of photos on my own website: wwww.glennsmart.btinternet.co.uk Just click on 'Volvo 960' in the drop down menu and then click on the button 'Go there!
The accelerator pedal has the sensor incorperated. It is replaced as a unit. Part # 30683516
