hold down the power button until it turns off
All you have to do is hold down the power button and home button for a while, like on the IPad. I'm not sure how long, but I got my Nook on Christmas and it happened to me TWICE!
turn your nook totally off. then hold the power button and the n home button down at the same time t'll it asks you if you want to reset your nook. Do it, and go with the flow!
The nook has a lot of glitches and that is one of them, just hold the silver button down for 20 seconds then turn your nook back on.
touch the "expand" button
Press the ¨n¨button (aka the home button) and the down volume key. try it out! (:

I'm having the same problem. I would hold the power button and the n button at the same time and that turns it completely off. Then log back in and hope you can download the app or another suggestion is to wait until later to turn it on. There might be too many people on the shopping network for it to process.
the nook tablet because its newer and it has more battery power and more for just 50 dollars more.
The color uses a micro USB cable but the power source at the plug-in side is much larger and more powerful (1.9A for the nook color vs. 850mA for nook vs. 500-650mA for standard USB power). I tried to plug my regular nook charger into my nook color but without the larger plug in power box that comes with the nook color, it will not charge. In B&N customer help books for nook color they say specifically not to use a power source other than one that is made specifically for nook color. I didn't push the issue once I saw my nook color wouldn't show a charging icon when plugged into my regular nook AC source cord.
What you probably did is hit that button in the bottom of the Nook, that exits out of anything. Since the touch screen is that small, it happens to me sometimes too.
when you go to the (?123) button, you can press (ALT), it's on the right side. there's more symbols there.
