Dexron automatic transmission fluid or power steering fluid that you buy from the parts house.
Plain old power steering fluid.
Drivers side under AC compressor
It is located below and almost behind your air conditioning pump. get a flashlight and give it a good look, you'll find it. This is if your Caprice has a 5.0L engine.
Remove the bolts but be prepared for alot of transmission fluid pouring out. You will need a large drain pan.
To check the power steering fluid on your 1991 Caprice remove the cap on the power steering pump fluid reservoir and check the level on the fluid level indicator. If the fluid is warm(about 170 degrees)the fluid level should be at the "Full Hot" mark. If the fluid is cool(about 70 degrees) the fluid level should be at the "Full Cold" mark.Always use the correct power steering fluid to avoid damage to the hoses and seals which will result in fluid leaks. It should be noted that the reservoir (pardon my spelling) is located under the alternator (On my '91 with the 305, that is) - So you can't do it while the car is running.....Kenny
dextron
Just regular power steering fluid. NO automatic transmission fluid.
well on my 86 it is located on the pump its self driverside down twords the bottom below the AC compresser if you got AC
You don't... it has electronic power steering. No fluid except lubrication in the actual steering column.
Open the hood and look at the engine front drivers side locate the pump turn the cap remove ti look inside the cap it is a dipstick .
At the power steering reservoir, the same place you check the level.
