Trouble code P0443 means: Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit
where is the purge control valve located on a 2000 grand am 4 cylinder
OBD 0445 indicates a short in the emission control purge valve.OBD 0445 indicates a shorted emission control purge valve.
The purge control valve is located behind the rear wheel that is on the same side as the gas tank. By simplysliding under the bumper one can view the canister and the valve.
Means flow when purge not commanded. Bad or stuck purge valve Broken damaged or leaking vapor control system Bad purge control solenoid.
The purge control valve is on backside of the throttle-body...it looks like a plastic inlet pipe that is missing tubing. There should be a small white/yellowish "cap" blocking the opening of the valve, just inside the inlet entrance. If it is turned-sideways (in constant open position) then you will have difficulty starting your car after filling-up at the pump. I have photos and will try to upload later....
A person should know the location of all the parts in their car. The Purge Control Valve is located towards the front of the engine, on the passenger side.
If it is the valve on top of the fuel tank, it weel need to be replaced.
