Don't do that!It's a major mistake to do that!The airbag is a safety device.
It prevents the starter from turning when the car is NOT in Park or Neutral, so that cars don't accidentally take of when starting.

May also want to check the module ontop of the transmission, it's located next to the battery, I'm not sure if the part's correct name is a neutral safety switch.
It might be the transmission range selector
You can find mercury inside a glass thermometer, if it is old and maybe a bit out of date. Don't break it though to get the mercury out... unless your in a lab and you have all the safety equipment

The neutral safety switch is located on the driver side of the transmission on the shelf part of the trans.. It screws down into the trans. and has a four wire plug connector.
Replace the transmission computer. Located under the center console.
