It doesn't have one. Long arms manufactured before 1/1/69 were not required to be serialized in the US.

You'll only find the date of sale if you have the original cash register receipt. Springfield shotguns were manufactured by the Stevens division of Savage Arms from 1920 to 1948.

There should be a manufacturer's serial number somewhere. Unless the serial number has been deliberately erased!
