James Earl Ray was identified as the suspect in the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. through multiple pieces of evidence, including fingerprints found at the crime scene, witnesses seeing him fleeing, and a bundle of incriminating items found near the assassination site. Eventually, Ray plead guilty to the crime.
