In order to use the built-in speaker, you will need to enable it. Press and hold the FF button when adjusting the volume. This will enable the speaker. Press and hold the RW button when adjusting the volume and this will disable it. To enter the "adjust volume" mode, simply press the volume button while listening to music and use the FF or RW buttons for adjusting the volume and enabling the built-in speaker. The built-in speaker can work with or without the earphones plugged in. Please note that after the unit has been powered off, you will need to re-enable the built-in speaker.
