Follow the large wire from the battery.
On the right side of the engine, underneath attached to the bell housing. If the engine is a 302 PLEASE DISCONNECT THE BATTERY before working on the starter as the big cable is live as it is connected directly to the battery.
it is on the bottom of engine pass. side just follow you + cable form the battery
passenger side , down between the engine and the transmission. having a thick cable connected directly to it.
Follow the + battery cable - should be either at the top of the starter or mounted at the inner fender
The starter is on the passenger side of the engine. It is mounted where the engine and transmission come together.
The starter is located on the right hand side of the engine near the bottom. You can follow the positive battery cable from the battery to the starter.
i had similar problem with 99 wrangler and if its the relay its located in the fuse box.

It sounds like the solenoid is working but the starter is not. Check the wires on the starter. Possibly the starter has gone bad.

Change your cables they might be old and arcking...while your at it change your spark plugs
Just remove the small screw. Comes right off.
Check fuses, and check the shifter lock switch on the brake pedal.

The starter on a 98 V6 Camaro should be on the side of the engine block. It is close to the rear at the bell housing.
