The best way to go is to buy a Chilton's shop manual (or check one out from the library). The starter on almost every car is on the bottom of the engine block. The drive end of the starter has to engage the flywheel, so it will be pointed into the
bell housing. If you are under the truck you should be able to spot it pretty easily.
