Depends on the car. I think usually its on the Left side of the steering wheel.
The dash board light dimmer control switch may be turned off or broken.
Assuming the bulbs are good, the dash illumination light brightness control switch is turned off or broken.
When you say dimmer switch I assume you are refering to the internal dash-board lights dimmer switch. The dimmer switch for the dash-board lights is located on the speedometer panel. There are two black knobs that stick out between the warning lights on the dash. The right one is used to set the clock while the left one when rotated adjusts the dash-board lights and when depressed resets the odometer. This should be what you are looking for.
via an on board dash reading
Be sure that the dash light brightness control switch is not turned off.
The dash light brightness control may be turned off, check the switch.
run a wire from battery positive to an inline fuse, then to a switch that you have to install in your dash. from the switch to the lights, then to ground. turn on switch, lights should work.
On the dash board, just left of the steering column. There are three switches on a raised portion of the dash...the upper one controls the normal lights and the night vision lights, the lower left switch controls the dash lights and the lower right switch is a lock out switch that has to be held while turning the upper light switch on.
Turn up your dimmer switch. Should be next to the steering wheel on the dash board.
You probably don't need to change the dash lights. On the headlight panel there is a control to dim or brighten the dash lights. This same control allows you to turn them completely off. I don't remeber on that particular car if the light switch rotates or has a separate switch but all cars have this feature.
Yes, your tail lights will go out when your dash board lights go out.
Need to know what about the dash board lights.
