It is above the brake pedal not under it. Follow the brake pedal bracket all the way up and you will see the brake pedal switch.
i do not know what type of vehicle you have, but most brake light switches are located behind the brake pedal. Ive not seen a switch yet that cant be accessed from under the dash just stick your head down by the brake pedal and look up you should see it where the brake pedal rests.
Look on top of the brake pedal youll see a little box with a tiny button touching the arm of the brake pedal....you cant miss it
i have a 72 nova and the left turn signal blinks faster than the right what is my problem
look under the dash behind the brake pedal there is a small switch when you mash the pedal it presses a small white button in .un plug the wires and unscrew the switch. that is the brake sending unit. somrtime s this switch does not function properly when a power brake booster is added to much play. The orignal 63 impalas that had a factory brake booster also had a flat tab welded to the brake pedal shaft to make sure that the switch would not miss the pedal shaft. If that does not work it may be because all lights on a 63 impala are grounded at the light by the metal body surrounding the light if this metal body does not make good contact with good metal no light or light misfunction occurs.
THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS NOT PUTTING OUT BATTERY WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN. CHECK TO SEE IF BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN. IF BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON, THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SHIFT IT OUT OF PARK. IF NO BRAKE LIGHTS, THEN IT WON'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THEN REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.
push the brake pedal, if that does not work, then the brake switch that sends the signal to release the shifter may be bad
most likely the brake light switch, they are adjustable and can be a little tricky to put in if youre not familiar with them bring it to a mechanic. It is directly above the brake pedal, must be extended all the way out and pedal cant be depressed when installing
Many vehicles, yours included I guess, are equipped with a safety system which prevents the transmission from being shifted out of park without first depressing the brake pedal. Some are mechanical, employing a cable or linkage, others are electromechanical, employing a switch at the brake pedal and a servo at the shifter which moves a locking pin when the pedal is depressed. Check for a bad switch first. It's the easiest to get at and is probably incorporated into the brake light switch.
Most Likely the problem with the brake lights would be the switch located in front of the brake pedal arm just below the pivot point. It has a spring inside so that when the pedal is depressed it makes contact internally.
I had same problem. Check you brake lights. They are not working right? There is a safety switch at the back of your brake pedal. should be white box attached to the shaft behind the pedal. Follow the 2 wires attached to that white safety switch box and see if they are cut or unplugged. that switch locks up your button on the shifter so you cant get it out of park. (for safety reasons.)
There is either a burnt out fuse, or a problem with your brake light switch, located under the dash connected to brake peddle arm.
The shift mechanism is only allowed to move from park if and when the brake pedal is pressed. Possible causes are, faulty brake pedal switch, shift interlock solenoid, wiring, or broken shift button. Possible shift linkage or transmission problem. Find the procedure for "bypassing or overriding the shift interlock" for further diagnosis.
