The coolant temp sensor on a 97 Buick Century is on the side of the radiator. It is just below the radiator cap.

The sensor is located in the sensor assembly. It is inside of the transmission, the pan will have to be dropped to gain access.
There's no need to change it if it's not broken.
The temp sensor is behind the front bumper. It is a small black probe with two wires going to it.
These are usually mounted in between the outlets for the vents on the edge of the dashboard. You will have look closely to see it/them, because they are no larger than about a 1/4" square. It/they will have a tiny grill covering them. In additiona - the outside temperature sensor is located in front of the radiator support. It looks like a little horn.
