on the front of the engine on the serpentine belt, it's bolted directly to the engine.
depress the tensioner pulley with a ratchet and take off the belt installation is the opposite
Observe how the belt runs around the pulleys then take a 1/2" ratchet and insert it into the belt tensioner( on top near shiny pulley) and pry back the tensioner. Simply remove old belt and install new one. You will be surprised how easy it is. I hope this helps you. Mark
put a wrench on the tensioner pulley. you may have to hook to together to release the tension. they also sell belt removal tools at auto stores.i believe it 15mm size.put the wrench on the bolt head of the pulley and either push or pull i cant remember which and the pully will move releasing belt tension.
pulley pump???? i know the 89 astro and i do not know what you mean?
you have to loose the belt in order to slide it out by releasing tension on the tensioner pulley ,what you do it`s sore of a tight motion clockwise on the tensioner bolt it`ll loosen the belt and then you can slide it out, to install it do the same.
If it is a 1.9,, then you point the arrow on the cam pulley up, at the dot on the head, and the crank pulley notch up, at the matching notch above it, and put on the belt. The tensioner is a bit of a hassle.
The OEM size is 15".
You will be able to remove this from under the car. You have to slack the belt first, there is a long adjustable bolt that releases the tension on the belt.
