It is located under the hood inside the radiator hose.

On the radiator you have a top hose and a bottom hose. Look at the bottom hose and follow it to where it attaches to the block. Unscrew the two bolts. There is the thermostat.
Under the housing where the upper radiator hose hooks to the engine.
Follow the lower radiator hose to the engine. The hose is connected to a housing(under the distributer) which is bolted to the engine with 2 bolts. the thermostat is located under the housing, with the spring side of the thermostat facing the cylcinder head.
The thermostat on a 1995 Geo Prizm LSI 1.8 liters is located at the end of the rad hose. Follow the rad hose connected to the engine.?æ
It is located just below the lower radiator hose.
The alternator blocks access to it. You need to remove the serpentine belt, then the alternator to get to the thermostat.
Just follow your top radiator hose from the radiator to where it attaches to the engine. This is your thermostat housing. Drain the radiator, take the hose clamp loose, remove the two 10 mm nuts from the housing and GENTLE tap the housing. This will expose the thermostat to you. Make sure you get a new gasket along with the new thermostat.
Trace your top radiator hose to the engine. Where you see the hose attached, is the thermostat housing. It's kind of on the side of the head. Held in with two 10mm nuts. Real simple job.
You could have a stuck thermostat or your cooling fans aren't working.
Drain the radiator, undo the top hose from the thermostat housing, take the two bolts holding the housing onto the engine, gently tap it loose and you'll see the thermostat. Just pull it out and put the new one in. Be sure to use a new gasket. Reusing the old one isn't recommended.
