it is inside of an aluminum housing that join three hoses on the drivers side of the engine
the library should have a shop manual for this vehicle, you can make copies of the right sections :)
at the rear of the vehicle
On a 2001 Mercury Cougar : The radiator is located in the engine compartment , at the front of the vehicle
On the transmission.
The ECM in a 1999 Mercury Sable is located on the inside of the vehicle on the passenger side. It is located under the kick plate.
The water pump just below the top timing belt cover, right side of the vehicle. Not much space to work in, but I just replaced one while I was replacing the timing belt. To the left of the water pump is the thermostat housing; where your engines thermostat is located. I also replace the thermostat while I had the timing covers (top & bottom) removed. Rick
The thermostat on a 1997 Mazda MPV is located on top of the engine, under the upper radiator hose. It controls the flow of coolant through the vehicle.
It would depend on what vehicle you have but generally it is located very close to the thermostat housing in most vehicles.

The thermostat is located behind the radiator inlet fitting in the housing behind the gasket. Removing and putting the thermostat back in should be done a last resort. This is because it may reduce how well the vehicle cools.
The thermostat on a 2000 Isuzu Trooper is located on top of the engine, below the upper radiator hose. It controls the flow of coolant to the radiator and throughout the vehicle.
The thermostat is located on the front of the engine towards the front of the vehicle. You get to it by removing the intake/air filter box/tubing on the driver's side.
