it's under the exauhst manifold off the water pump. u can barely see it. follow the bottom radiator hose that wraps under the engine. the metal pipe that goes up to the water pump, it sits in the end of that but you have to take the bolts out from the top of the motor.

The 2001 Mitsubishi Gallant thermostat is located inside of the thermostat housing. You can follow the bottom radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing.
