Remove all engine covers, including the one in the front of the engine. Then look behind your alternator, you'll see a coolant pipe going in, if the car's been running a while, it'll be the only cold coolant hose. It goes into a housing then into the block. To remove, just undo the 2 hex bolts on the housing, and the thermostat is right there. Hope this helped
Drain the coolant (cold engine!!!) Get under the car and follow the lower radiator to the metal adapter. Use a 10mm wrench to remove the two bolts holding the adapter in place, pull it out and expose the thermostat. When you replace it be sure to fit a new o-ring. Use a German WAHL or equivalent, the stants don't fit properly.
you probably have a faulty ignition coil, especialy if engine generaly denies to start from time to time...
Xli and Gli are two trims of toyota corolla, available in different countries, just like vvt-i.xli is a lower trim and gli is a higher and more expensive trim... when we say toyota corolla xli are we talking about engine model or the car model
