If you follow the upper radiator hose (the larger hose at the top of the radiator usually below the fill cap) from the radiator to the block you will find a housing that will unbolt from the engine. Your thermostat will be inside this housing.

The thermostat is located on the side of the engine. It housing is mounted in front of the distributor and connects to the upper radiator hose.

I have a 94 it is located rigt above the thermostat it has a plug in it with 3 wires coming from it it is not to big you would need a phillip that looks sorta like a z it has two screws in it. it is above to the right of the thermostat. I just replaced mine. The thermostat is located in the radiator hose. Look for the black hose that runs under the ignition. Take the clamp out pull the hose out and there should be the thermostat.
Pontiac didn't introduce the Sunfire until 1995, so you may be thinking of a Sunbird.
Did you try the horn relay? It is located near the fuse box.
