On a 1996 Ford Taurus sedan , the spare tire goes in the well under the trunk carpet with the outside of the wheel facing down ( the tire jack is mounted inside of the back side of the tire rim which faces up )
try the frame
Read the side of the tire you have on it or individually. It says PSI.
if its cargo van load range E IS A HEAVY DUTY TIRE FOR WEIGHT
The tire jack is supposed to be under the spare tire , in the well in the trunk area
you can fit a 33 in tire

On a 1996 Ford Explorer : On the front of the lower control arms you will see a hook ( or bar ) The factory jack is put there to change a front tire
under the back seat
It's supposed to be stored under the spare tire in the trunk
There is a wing nut made of plastic under the back door of the driver side that you unscrew and this remove a piece of steel ,so you can put the jack handle down the hole just above the bumper and turn counter clock wise to lower tire to the ground
