There is a filler bolt on the side of the trans. and a drain bolt on the bottom. remove the filler bolt and stick your finger inside to check the oil. if changing drain and fill until the oil is overflowing out of the filler bolt

If it is an automatic the dip stick should be in the rear of the engine compartment to one side of the motor, if it is a standard shift it will not have one, it will have 2 plugs in the side of the transmission, 1 at the bottom to drain the oil and the other on the side to check the oil....Good luck, buy a manual for your truck!
