Standard tranny's don't have dipsticks. Theres a plug on the side of the tranny to check/fill the tranny fluid. The fluid should come up to the bottom of that plug hole when sitting on a level surface.
On my 2-door 99 dodge Dakota truck manual transmission. I put in four quarts in then check the oil stick. I always end up putting half of another quart. So 4 and 1/2 quarts.
The transmission dipstick is a special tool that only the dealer has.
no, there is no dipstick for the transmission on the 2009 Dodge Journey. You need to got it looked at by a service center.

I always fill mine where the transmission dip stick goes in.
dip stick tube
Standard trannsmission wont have one. It is checked by a filler plug at the transmission itself. Remove the plug and if you can touch the lube within a 1/4 inch or so of the hole then it should be fine. I usually fill them to the botttm edge of the plug hole. Hope this helps you.
