It is located in the transmission, only accessible, by dropping the transmission pan, not very hard to do, but lots of bolts.
The transmission filter is located within the transmission. One has to remove the bottom plate of the transmission to access it. A filter usually comes with a new gasket for replacing the bottom plate, but be sure you do.
Basically, you don't. The filter is not easily available in the CD4E automatic transmission. It doesn't have a bottom pan, so it would need to be disassembled to get at the filter.

If it is the engine oil you are talking about it is on the bottom of the pan.
96 contour has an electric fan, so no fan belt
