if you lift ur car u can see the metallic pan right under the drivers seat it has 13 bolts u have to unscrew and has a big one on the right side of the pan, unscrew that one firt to drain the fluid. once u have drained the fluid and unscrewed the 13 little bolts take of the pan and right there is the filter a little square metallic thing lol, it has 4 bolts.

Per my local Hyundai Shop this model does not have a serviceable filter, therefore you only drain and fill this transsmission.

The transmission filter is located under the transmission on a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. it is under the transmission drain pan.
Its under the hood on the drivers side.
The 2003 Elantra does not have a transmission filter.

If you look below the power brake booster you will find it.However it is not easy to get to
its under the skid protector on the right side. in front of the oil pan
The filter is inside the transmission and is not to be serviced. Just drain fluid and replace.
The Hyundai Sonata's transmission range sensor is located directly below the vehicle's oil filter. It is located near the range switch.
Trans filter is located near the air box on top of the transmission. It looks like an oil filter.
