The automatic Transmission Fluid dipstick is in the engine compartment , near
the firewall , just to the passenger side of the engine .

You fill the transmission fluid on the 1988 F250 diesel at the dipstick of the transmission. You will need a filler funnel in order to keep spillage to a minimum.

There should be a dipstick at the very back of the engine. It should be gray and say transmission.
You can add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube on an automatic. If it's a standard, there will be a plug on the side of the transmission. Fill it using a suction gun or pump. Fill it until it runs out.
