There is usually no transmission cap. The tube that the tranny dip stick is in is where you add fluid if it is an automatic. You usually need a funnel that has a longer neck on it. If it isa standard then there is a check bolt that you remove and add fluid that way. Good luck.

Then put the transmission back up and fill it with fluid. Mine took app. 6 quarts. ,Jennifer Actually you do not have to remove the transmission, their should be a drain plug on the side of the transmission pan, if not you can loosen the transmission pan, which should have between 8 to 12 bolts on, you can change your tranny fluid, and filter from there and replace a new gasket. I do not have any pics of the transmission, but let me give you a small PC of advise: If you are replacing your trans, take it to a "non Mazda Transmission shop". The reason being is that the transmissions in these cars are the same size of those being put into the smaller Mazdas, according to Fayetteville Transmission and a Mazda tech. I was advised to put a heavier transmission in my 92 929 and it has been amazing for years, not one problem. $1800 was my cost. One of the few things to still be going strong on this car!
