The 99-08 F-250 is the biggest truck body on the road, so it just can't get mpg like Dodge or GM, as it has more drag. not a modified 4x4 XLT package. V8 gas gets 11-13 V10gas gets 9-12 7.3 diesel gets13-16 6.0 diesel gets15-18 Diesel mpg's are low here. Check the discussion area for more info...... Going back to the 1980s 6.9L and 7.3L diesels, reports vary from 15-35mpg. These engines had higher compression with less restricted intake and exhaust.
