The 99-08 F-250 is the biggest truck body on the road, so it just can't get mpg like Dodge or GM, as it has more drag. not a modified 4x4 XLT package.

Going back to the 1980s 6.9L and 7.3L diesels, reports vary from 15-35mpg. These engines had higher compression with less restricted intake and exhaust.

i'm getting 16mpg at 65mph and about 14.5 at 80mph hwy. I don't have any programmers hooked up or anything special to the engine done. I drive a 2007 f250 4x4 with 130k miles on it
2000 7.3L TD 2x4 manual is 17 - 21 mpg
The avgerage gas mileage is around 15 to 17 miles. However, you can save miles with less load in the back of the truck. You r gas mileage depends a great deal on your driving habits so the range can be broad. On average a ford f250 diesel gets between 10-18 mpg.
i have a 2001 ford 7.3 diesel with 190,000 and i get 12-14 mpg
If you are trying to make an environmentally friendly automobile purchase, then you probably do not want to go with a truck. The F250, gets around 12-15 miles per gallon.
It was only about 10mpg city and 14mpg highway. That was because of the diesel particulate filter (DPF). The truck emitted lower emissions, but got terrible gas mileage. If you get a DPF delete pipe, you can achieve 20mpg highway and 15mpg city.
The gas engined vehicles get 12-16 mpg. On a 2001 Ford F-250 7.3L Super Duty Diesel Lariat...I usually get anywhere from 15 - 19 mpg.
15- 20mpg
