There'll be a panel inside the door frame which has the VIN number on it. The VIN will also be on the truck's registration.
It will have no VIN as you know it today. It will however have a build tag. It may be located under the hood on the firewall or inside the glove box. Just look around for a tag with build information on it.

Vin plate attached to top of door frame. Partial vin also stamped on top of frame on drivers side in engine compartment.
It is on the main frame rail underneath the vehicle. It has been awhile since I looked for one, I am trying to remember, but I believe it is on the outside of the rail about 1/4 of the way back from the front.
The vin # should be on the frame. Or on the inside door jam.
Vin numbers are also stamped into the frame at various points.
There was no standardization of VINs until around 1968. If it is a Ford, check the left frame side inside of the glove box. For a Dodge truck, look for a metal plate on the drivers side door post. Some Chevy trucks have it on the engine firewall or on the front frame.
On a sticker inside the door frame. If that's worn off, the VIN number will be on the vehicle registration.
Door jamb, left side, if that ID plate is missing you will find the vehicle number on the frame near the left front spring hanger, it may take some cleaning to find it.

When you open the drivers side door, and look on the rear side of the door frame, you'll see a silver sticker on there. The VIN is there.
