It is acceptable for Christians to read but keep in mind the book is about the experiences and views of a man's journey to get to know God. It is not the normal viewpoint of most American believers. He may come across to you as being "oddball with a few quirky ideas." I have the book and found the author to be interesting. Having lived in Portland and been around Marylhurst students I can understand why he is so different from most believers in North America.

Extremely different. It is one of the big differences between the two religions. In Christianity, Jesus is the Messiah, the savior. From the Jewish perspective, Jesus may or may not have lived but at most, he would have been a false prophet. Jesus plays absolutely no role in Judaism.
