the oil drain plug is not near the filter. look just a little farther to the rear of the vehicle. you will see 2 large pans. one has an L shape, kinda like the head of a hockey stick or Golf club, that is the transmission pan--DONT TOUCH! the pan right in front of that is square, and is ribbed on the exterior, there is a angled bolt sticking out of it, that is the oil drain plug.
