I actually had to figure out how to reattach mine, same year and everything. It's pretty difficult to describe, but the only way I was able to figure it out was to remove the passenger side door cover and see how that linkage was connected. Then I lined up the same on the drivers side. It's VERY difficult trying to fix that stupid linkage and get it just right, but if it's missing, you should still see a blue plastic insert where the original linkage rested in. There is also a spring beside it, to return the interior handle to its regular position.

if the fluid is seeping from the linkage area at the trans case ,there may be a seal where the linkage go's through the case ,check your factory repair manual ,also check the trans lines where they connect to the trans case (they may be seeping)
It should be on the dash board under the bottom of the windshield on the drivers side.

It should be under the windshield, just above the hood on the drivers side.
