Should be under tailshaft on trans.
I know from expirience that the manual trans has two. One is called the right trans mount, near the motor, and the other is the rear trans mount located directly under the trans. You can use a pry bar the lift up on the trans and see if the mount is broken. the rear mount is about fifty bucks, and is easy to replace, its mounted with only four or five bolts.
towards the rear of the trans it is held up by a metal bracket with approx four bolts holding the plate and the trans mount is held to the trans with one bolt the trans mount is a peice of rubber approx. 2-3 inches sq and about 2-3 in height if you hear a rattle under the seats or you hear the trans banging on metal this could be your problem the cost is about $25 but a shop will say parts and labor about $185 the job is simple to do
unbolt mount jack up trans unbolt cross member and reassemble
transmission on 84 -96 corvettes does not have a mount it has a torque arm from rear of trans to front of diff. that supports the load
there is the top mount on the passenger side of the motor, a dog-bone mount at the rear of the engine and a trans mount seen at the inside of the left front fender well
It is really very simple. With the car on jacks, I assume you mean the front trans mount, it is round, so is the rear mount, support the engine and just start taking the bolts out that connect the mount. If you have air tools, this will help you with the job, but you can do it without. Once you have the mount in your hand, then just replace it with the new one, only fits one way, then tuck the mount back into place, and bolt to the frame and trans.
first you remove the shift linkage, and all wires and lines going to and from the trans. Then you remove the drive shaft. You do this by loosing the u bolts that hold the drive shat to the rear end. then you support the rear of the trans with a jack or a piece of wood just something to hold it up. Then you remove the rear mount at the aft of the transmission. Then you unbolt the trans bell housing form the back of the block then slid trans down to the ground and its out.
If it is 4 wheel drive then there is a solid axle in the rear and a trans-axle in the front. the trans-axel has two CV shafts on either side connecting to the front tires. If it is 2 wheel drive then there is just a solid rear axle. and your front tires mount to spindles.
Every Trans Am from 1969-2002 was rear wheel drive.
Driver side rear of trans case.Driver side rear of trans case.
pass. side (belt side of motor), driver side (trans. mount), front, and rear (4 total)
tire or wheel out of balance? broken mount on rear of transmission. I have seen where the threads for the bolts into the trans are ripped out.
