on cold days mine starts around 1500 but about 10-15 seconds later it drops around 650-750 rpm give or take 10 anything above 1000 is abnormal i think and with the ac on and its idel in park it drops around 600-700
also if your is idling high and continuing to do so. its most likely a vacuum leak so check your hoses.
