Traditionally it is close to the main entrance of the church; as the main door is the entrance to the church; symbollically the baptismal font and the sacrement of batism represents the persons' entrance into the faith.

Roman Catholic AnswerThe baptismal font is used for Baptisms. In the older Churches (first millennium) the Baptismal font was in a Baptistery which was practically a separate building or room off the front of the Church. Many churches today are trying to get back to that with the Baptismal font near the entrance of the Church to symbolize that this is the way that one enters the Church, but in Churches build in the past several hundred years it might be anywhere in the Church.

What is the format of baptismal certificate?

The front of the baptismal certificate provides a place for the name and address of the church where the baptism took place, then it specifies the date, the parents, the name of the sponsors, a place for the current priest to sign and date, and it should have the seal of the Church where it was issued. The back of the baptismal certificate has places to record the date and place other sacraments were received and the date and place where first Holy Communion was received. The "baptismal certificate" in the Catholic Church is just a copy of the record that is in the permanent record at the Church where the baptism took place. The actual certificate is good for only six months.

What will you do if you don't have a record of baptismal in the church where you baptized?

If you are catholic, you will need a record to receive first communion, confirmation, and marriage sacraments. The church where you were baptized should have it, but if no longer there, the receiving church should have it. If not, you will need an affidavit from a witness (parent, godparent) who can attest to the baptism. If no witness, you may need a conditional baptism. If you are not catholic, you will need a record to be married in the catholic church to a catholic party. Int his case, if no record is available, or no witness, a declaration of nullity form is used where baptism is in question; this can be approved by the bishop if no other impediments exist.

What would you see in a Church?

Roman Catholic AnswerMost Churches are constructed in such a way that the first thing you encounter should be a holy water font, and your attention should be drawn to the altar and reserved Blessed Sacrament at the front center of the Church. Most churches would also, at a minimum, have a crucifix, a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Stations of the Cross, and a Baptismal Font.
