It really doesn't matter where it points as long as it's pointing at the post on the distributor that has the number one wire on it. Just remember, that's a 50/50 chance. It could be 180 degrees out of time.
At TDC, the rotor should be pointing toward the position where the number 1 spark plug wire plugs into. If the rotor is pointing in the opposite direction you need to rotate the engine once more since the engine rotates twice, once on the compression stroke (TDC) and once on the exhaust stroke (not TDC).
REmove #1 spark plu Remove Valve cover Manually turn engine over (use a socket on the crankshaft) until #1 piston is at the top of the cylinder and #1 intake valve is opening This is Top Dead center Remove distributor and replace so that tail of rotor is pointing to No. 1 wire
Number one cylinder is located driver's side front of engine. With the # 1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke, the rotor will be pointing at #1 plug on cap.Number one cylinder is located driver's side front of engine. With the # 1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke, the rotor will be pointing at #1 plug on cap.
A V on a car generally describes the shape of the engine. A V engine has 2 rows of cylinder's pointing towards each other in a V shape. A normal engine only has one row of cylinders pointing straight down.
get the first piston on the engine TDC (top dead center) take the cap off the distributer and adjust it until the rotar is pointing at #1 cylinder then it will be enough in time to start then use a timiing light from there
Seeing you had the distriburetor out I would bet it's out of time, make sure the rotor is pointing to #1 plug when the engine is at top dead center on #1 cylinder.
cylinder one on a 2002 isuzu rodeo 3.2 engine is on center drivers side
There is one mount in the center of the engine below the vibration damper. There is the torsion strut mounted to the top of the radiator support then to the top of the engine. If your car has the 205L 4 cylinder engine there is another mount on the transaxle in line with the center of the engine. If your car has the 2.8L 6 cylinder engine there is a mount on either side of the transaxle.
TDC with regards to an engine means Top Dead Center - and that means a piston is at the highest point in the cylinder befores it starts to go back down the cylinder
18436572Drivers side head front to rear is cylinders 1357The other head is 2468The distributor turns clockwise. When #1 cylinder is at top dead center/ TDC. on the compression strock, the distributor rotor should be pointing at the #1 cylinder on the engine. If it is then that will be #1 on the cap. Then wire it clockwise 18436572 on the cap.
Remove all spark plugs and turn the engine over until the #1 piston is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke. The rotor should be pointing at the #1 plug wire connection on the distributor cap. Rotate the distributor if necessary to line it up.
TDC on the compression stroke for number one cylinder, looking from the front, the rotor should be pointing to the 5:00 o'clock to 5:30 position on the cap.
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is the most common firing order. Bring the number 1 cylinder up to top dead center. And find out where it is pointing on the distributer, put the cap back on ,then start putting the plug wires clockwise on the distributer starting where it was pointing on the cap with number 1.
