Needle in gauge should be midway between the 80 mark and the mark just above it.
Anywhere in the "Normal" range. Gauges are not an exact science - just an indicator As long as they are not at one extreme or the other you should be OK
mine stays just a quarter inch below midway all the time at normal temp
As long as it is within the NORMAL range and not at either extreme you are okay
If you have been driving the car for some time, you should have noticed on many occasions that the needle on the temp gauge rises to a certain place and usually stays right there. If the needle, in normal driving, is rising higher than it used to, and staying there, you do need to get that checked out, yes, because that obviously isn't "normal".
Check the operating temperature with a thermometer - if within normal limits replace the temperature sensor if overheating write back - many things to check
The normal poodles temperature is between 101.00 and 102.00
