VW will tell you that you must use their specific yellow coolant. You don't. Just use the top of the line Prestone that is for all engine types. Don't add water!! It runs on pure coolant...
If you have a 1999 Passat V6, the coolant temperature sensor is located in the lower radiator hose.
G12 You have to get it form the dealer
Fill the reservoir with G12 VW coolant only and it will go into the engine.
There is not a heater valve in a WV Passat. Instead, coolant moves through the heater core at all times.
Unfortunately, our Passat's have a specialty coolant that is branded as G012. Usually when you walk into an auto place, if you tell them it is the pink stuff then they know. You cannot mix a "universal" coolant with it, however if you ever have your system flushed you can start over with universal coolant although it is not as good for your car but it is not bad. I recommend going to the dealer to get the coolant as, surprisingly, it is cheapest there from what I have found.
genarally needs topping up with water ?????
how to add coolant to 1991 lumina?
I'm pretty sure it's common
where the radiator drain on 2003 bettle
The coolant temp sensor for a 2003 Passat 1. 8L is located on top of the engine, near the upper radiator hose. It constantly monitors the engine's temperature and adjusts the cooling fan as needed.
