there are two round silver (on my tts) caps on the front of the rocker cover with 17mm heads like a bolt these are for the exhaust valve tappet adjustment 0.012-0.017mm (0.0047-0.0067in.)clearanceon the back of the rocker cover there is an oval shaped plate with 2 Allen head bolts holding it inside here u will find the inlet valves tappet adjustment
0.05-0.10mm(0.002-0.004in.) clearance with cold motor at T D C but i would strongly suggest u get a workshop manual to do this job to help in aligning timing marks finding top dead etc...

Sure anything is possible with a little ingenuity - Yamaha parts especially older models can be swaped without too much fuss.

The only cubic number between 400 and 600 is 8 x 8 x 8 (83) = 512.
Start at 1 1/2 turns from seat and adjust for best idle 1/4 turn at a time
I measured my 83 midnight maxim 750 and it stands 31 in. from ground to top of seat
If it's a 1981-83 with BP7ES NGK spark Plug use a 0.032 inch gap.

Its between an 81 - 83 model, in 84 Yamaha went to a 17 digit Vin number. Hope this helps. I have an 81 Virago with a 9 digit number on the frame and engine as well.
