How long it takes to build an average rc boat kit really depends on how build the model is, the skills required and your previous experience with such kits.

Assembling a model boat kit for ages 8 to 11 is most likely ideal. A few websites indicate children as young as 5 would enjoy this hobby however I believe it indicates a child this young would enjoy the boat after it is assembled and ready for remote control use (not during the initial modeling).
